FML: MPC problems need a tech

Hi -

Anybody in the Boston area know a good tech for MPCs? Mine took a spill over the weekend and the headphone out and the stereo outs are now acting up...not getting signal, getting weak signal, dropping L or R at times. I know it is the outputs, as I've run test tones through the MPC, etc.

I need a tech who can fix this and was hoping someone might have a suggestion. Thanks all!

Open it up and check ALL the hard wire and ribbon cable connections. Make sure everything is seated properly in their connectors, even the ram.

If you need to take it to a tech, I'll give you the service manual if you don't have it already.

thanks ocular, haven't posted any new for a while. started a soundcloud (mr_bundy), just getting that up and running so feel free to add.

have the manual. took it apart and everything is connected internally, so i think it is above my knowledge for fixing...good suggestion tho

Damn, that's too bad. I'm in your area but my electronics skills only extend as far as simple component replacement and short circuit checks. I'm not qualified or equipped to troubleshoot the volume control circuits. Too many variables as to what could go wrong. Just pray that the IC's are okay and the fix is just a matter of locating and replacing a bad component like a capacitor or something.

I would just bite the bullet and bring it to a tech along with a pdf of the service manual so dude has a schematic to work off of. Good luck.

any suggestions? I've only been to Aztec audio, but was happy with the work they did. Not sure if they will service an MP, but i'll give them a call after work today.

That's one of the first places I would call if I couldn't fix it myself.

Now you got me curious and am reading how to troubleshoot resistors and capacitors and other MPC related components. It isn't as out of reach for me as I thought.
