I tried it myself acouple of years ago. Never really worked. Wound up being the invertor or something that had to be replaced along with putting in a new backlight. Send it to VST. They do good work.

i did change my mpc 3000 backlight long time ago and it work, there must be some instruction on how to change the backlight for the mpc 60ii? im not from the usaim from netherlands so theres no vsts here...

I just did it on one but it didn't fix it so I'm waiting on a replacement inverter. It's not too hard - just 4 screws that hold the lcd assembly onto the top of the case, then the backlight is just stuck under the lcd with 2 wires going to the inverter - you just have to pull the old one out and resolder the 2 wires.

edit:
got it working - the inverter needed replacing too - looking good now. Next is a replacement encoder - I'm trying a non-original one - I'll report back on how it works and the part number as I know replacements are impossible to find.

I'm going to be selling this pimped out 60ii if anyone's looking for one.
