Hey soulshadow , I think I saw the DPS16 for about $1,000 online somewhere , brand new.
I got the dps 12 and it's great so I can only imagine a dps16.....

I've seen new DPS16's for under $1000 from Shreve Audio.

As far as vs a PC:  I would like to see someone build a PC, outfit it with 8 analog ins and 1 digital I/O (all at 24/96), install multitracking software, and add a 25 knob, 17 slider and 80 button control surface for under $1000.

I would say going DPS is a lot cheaper than building a PC with the SAME features.

Tru Dat, MPC-Tutor. I was about to get a DPS12, but my computer needed SERIOUS upgrading. For about 1400, I custom built a computer with a Athlon 1.2 Gig processor, Running Cubase SX & soon Pro Tools, with a MOTU 2408 with 8 ins/8 outs, and  Steinberg USB-2-MIDI which gets my MPC synced to Cubase. (The MOTU I got late because it costs about $800) However, my computer setup runs SMOOOOTH.
