Anyone here like Dubstep?

I dont know much about the genre in terms of specific artists and things they produced or techniques they signatured... (if that makes sense) but I have been quite impressed by some producer's LFO work, especially when they are unique with it rather then the same exact bass synth patch all the time and the same reverb snare on every song. But being unique and the lack of it is not specific to dubstep... every genre suffers with the same thing.

as for the britney spears song, my girl listens to pop radio and they play that song enough.... while I am not a fan of pop artists tapping into non pop genres of music.... at least that track is not as bad as it would have been... the dubstep section had some decent elements if you ignore the thought of what you are actually listening to.

As for music being made/for the working classes... not sure I'm feeling that. Has nothing to do with class at all, good music transcends barriers like that. There's plenty of good tunes coming from all sorts of people from all backgrounds that's the fun of it all.

IMO the best music comes from the oppression of one form or another...... but that's a different argument altogether. No rich boy ever made a good beat. (i'm sure there are examples but i'm generalising, as always...)

i will defo check the early dubstep you recommended.

Thinking about it seriously though, BS has a voice thats perfectly suited to dubstep -madly over processed and digital sounding.......

Me want to hear ya play dem dubstep music. Dem bumbaclot musicmakers dont know anyting about dem raggaetron!

I really dont like all the band wagoners on dub step. I had got into the scene in 2006 by a friend of mine who dj'd all that early DnB.

Its kinda the "it" thing. Britney Spears of all people have a bit in one of her songs! Por Que! I fear it will be a bit watered down and saturated as it will cross paths with the dumbed down rap of today.

I like some, but 90% of current dubstep uses exactly the same "bass" sound. It makes me groan when I hear that same rasping bassline on 100 "different" tracks. Dubstep is just slowed-down 90's Drum & Bass to me. It uses the same sounds as the old drum&bass stuff (Ed Rush, Optical, etc, etc, etc) but just at a diff tempo.
I aint knocking the good dubstep tunes though, they definitely kick off the cobwebs

This thread seems to be more about how Dubstep is being received and by who rather than whether people on the forum enjoy it or not.

I'm from south London where a lot of this music originates and it was great to come to San Francisco and find out this minority music which I associated strongly with London and the UK had made it to SF.

Shame it hasn't happened with Grime, I'm not having much luck getting my colleagues to listen to it. If your looking for Dubstep with an MC check out P-Money's 'Money over everything' Mix CD. It has Dubstep-ish production (snares on the 3rd beat) but more Grime/Hip-Hop arrangements, Plus P-Money is a sharp and funny MC.

I like dubstep but last weeks I became bored by those tracks without any deeper idea or creativity but just wobbling...
Most people think that dubstep is just about "wob wob's" and "wau wau's" and if the bass is crazy enough, there is nothing else needed and they have made a great dubstep song....
I liked dubstep at the beggining when it was not so commercial...- it seems to me that nowadays most of the 15 year old children are saying that they love dubstep only because it sounds cool and so they are cool too and they even know nothing about the music itself... They probably think that listening to dobstep is some kind of "mark of the punk" or whatever... morons...
I don't want to say that dubstep is bad music at all but all I want to say is that you have to skip 20 poor tracks to find the one which have an idea....
