Look, i know its been out for a month or two already but i'm in Africa, and i just got my hands on Ableton Live 4! The Demo, and it is amazing!. For those of you who felt that 3 was missing the midi dimention....the 4 has taken care of that. I hate software. I own Reason 2.5, Fruityloops 4, Cubase SX.... I was a PC head, then i met the MPC. Now my PC is used for sound design, period. I got a Yamaha A4000, Virus B and Micro Q as sound modules.

But ableton 4 has blown my mind, and it's changing it a little too.

To me it seems like the perfect studio tool, to sync up all your gear. The integration between Midi and audio is seamless. One moment you got midi tracks triggering your gear the next its all recorded tweaked and perfectly in time. Simple interface intuitive user interface. Damn.

I dont know what you guys are thinking about it, to me it's the closest to the hardware feeling that software has gotten, and its power is incredible. I can't see how people can carry on making beat orientated music without Ableton.

Its to good to be true.

Where's the catch.

Educate me.

yeah i use it alot its real tight. i like how easy u can intergrate the mpc to it. also the way it seqs is rugged. its a real tight program. I also use it to export loops from reason and then seq them from it.

Tell me a bit about how you integrate it with the MPC. I dont have a usb>midi interface for my iBook so i have to use imagination to think a bit about how it might be to use it.

Do you use your MPC to trigger midi clips on live?

Also do the midi clip controller envelopes transmit over midi? If so it will allow me to do some unthinkable ish with my Yamaha A4000!! Damn i'm getting excited here.

i use the mpc to trigger clips. and i make the drums with the mpc using a VST for drums like battery. Then i record the midi back into the pc. u can have it send midi outs but u cant do the sysex changes. U should get reycle 2.0 and just send the cuts, or loops, to the sampler then use ableton to trigger them from the yamaha
