Bass Sound Module

If you can find a novation Bass Station, you should give it a shot.

I got a Virus B, which does me well with bass sounds. My Micro Q has also coughed up some killer low end sounds. At the end of the day you gonna have to learn how to program, your synth or ROMpler to get the sound you're "seeing" in your head.

Dont be fooled by flashy options. Some Rolands come to mind. Sure they got big screens but for deep ball rattling sounds you almost certainly have to look at analogue or Virtual Analogue for answers

Don't go past the EMU Proteus Series Modules !!! Mo'Phat, X-Lead, P2k

For $300 second hand they have a very warm analougish sound... Extreemly good Bass sounds.....You wont break the bank.. VERY VERY programable.... Excellent Z-Plane Filters.... and hey... It gives you a good introduction into programming synths before you fork out the $$$$ for a V.A.

And hey with that much Polyphony... you can use all the othersounds in your productions too... A NOVATION BASS STATION or MS2000 has very limited Polyphony only 4 voices... So your only gonna be able to use it for Bass thats all.... A good bass line will be a couple of layers of a top end bass and bottom end bass... hard to achieve on those units... The KORG MS2000 is more for Great sounding PADs IMO.

Plus the interface is very well designed when it comes to controlling it via midi from the mpc.......never had a problem

Quick question, how are you getting the deep basses out of the X-Lead? I just started experimenting with creating sounds on this machine but the basses don't sound full and deep like say my Triton, is it just a matter of mixing sounds or is it the filters on there?

I've always wanted to try out one of them Proteus 2500's. They seem damn tight. If i was going to get a rompler, it would be that one. Seem's like you have a greater ability to control, and design your own sounds.

They seem to go cheap over there in the US. I haven't seen one in South Africa yet.
