only 2.11 was on the cf card,not 2.12,but honestly I dont remember seeing bank A lit,but I'm almost sure the Window button was lit...
If that was the case,what was i suppose to do next....also is it possible to jump from 1.42 to 2.12...

Well the boot process can be long depending if you got a HDD or a slow CF but when the WINDOW and the pad bank button lit it means you're at the main screen.

Next if you still don't see anything you have to maintain the stop button and moving the jog wheel clockwise or unclockwise.

Sorry to stick with that idea of a contrast adjustement problem but reading all the posts I can't think of something else.

Did you try to keep pressing the ERASE KEY during the whole boot process as suggested earlier?
Doing that you should be able to see something on the screen.

Hope you'll finally find a solution.
