Ya see the 2500 would be right up my alley, but would it be a good one to start out with for my first set of hardware? I seen a few people say that the 1k was good to start wtih and one of the sales reps in guitar center told me the 1k was also good to start out with...but looking at videos with tutorials of each mpc they all seem similar and i guess it just learning the machine and getting used to it.

the 1k and the 2500 are comparable in work flow, if you have the money start with what you want, cause its a waste to get one and try to get another later if you're strapped for cash. the main difference is the size of screen, it pops up on the 2 and better bigger pads, the 1k is just a smaller version so its really about the price range

Yo ArKyve-31, I was just playing dude. I actually would like to get a 2500... just can't ever seem to find one priced right... but it's all gravy, the 1000 is such a bad ass little machine. And I agree with what you said about the pads... that's probably the most important issue to consider when looking into a used 1k.

And hey IwannaApe, just go ahead and get the 1k, it's awesome... and you'll have no regrets. If you want a 2500 down the road, then sell the 1k and get one. But I doubt you'll ever really need to or want to.

Touche!

I usually roll up a hoodie or something and stick it under the machine. Prop that MPC up to the point where it's practically vertical.

Yep, Craigslist... especially in LA. On any given day there are at least 7 or 8 new MPCs up for sale. I imagine this is most likely not the case everywhere (or anywhere else, for that matter).

Yeah the 2500 seems like the better choice but I see a lot of people posting more problems with it than the 1k i think and it seems that the pads on that one are faulty too,
craigslist would be cool but i have no insurance with that as with paypal I do. Found this one http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/for/2229205512.html
doesnt look to shabby.
Also seen these 1k's on the site that dont seem bad ,

Yeah pics going up in a minute. Only reason I'm selling is to get a 2500. I'm getting some outboard gear (preampps etc) and I could use the extra outs.
