Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I was wondering is there a way to slow down samples?... Say I have a loop that's 100 BPM and i want to make it 90 BPM
when I try to Timestretch the sample comes out choppy, muddy, etc.
Is there a way to slow down samples without losing the audio quality and keeping its original quality?

There are a ton of ways to do it and timestretching in the MPC is probably the worst. It's sound is not what you want, and it takes a really long time.

You could time-stretch it in Audacity, or any other audio editor. That's the easiest way. Every program will sound slightly different, none of them are perfect.

You could 'chop' the sample via zone function in mpc and then just trigger the new zones. This might still sound 'choppy' for you, though.

Finally you could take the chop a step further and really try to cut out each hit from the loop, then reprogram a new beat with those pieces. This is the most work, but will probably get you the best sound, and also is just another rabbit hole in terms of 'how do i do this'....you can do thousands of different things to try and pull out the hits.

This question comes up quite a lot and there was a good thread about it recently I think in production techniques forum.

Basically how good it sounds boils down to a combination of how well the break lends itself to whichever technique you try, and how much work you are willing to put in.
