That usb port from the keyboard, does it support a usb to midi I/O cable? I think I asked about that in another thread of yours.

That's the key to unlocking this mysterious delima you're dealing with.

Personally, I don't think there's anything out here that will work for your keyboard. So I'd get rid of that board and grab something else that actually has midi I/O ports.

Check out the midi controller I use....http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=446

4 midi outs, 1 thru, & 2 ins....you don't necessarily need the same thing I've got, but that's the kind of connectivity you need to make things happen.

Looking at your interface, those two left and right holes say MAIN OUT, which will be impossible to hear sounds if you are connecting the outs from your keyboard to those. Outputs always go to Inputs.

Like Dab said, check your manual for the Casio and see if the USB is MIDI capable. To play the Casio sounds from your MPC, you have to set the MPC as master and the Casio as slave and the MIDI OUT of the MPC goes to the MIDI IN of the keyboard, which might be MIDI capable. The audio outs of the Casio should go into the audio inputs of the interface to record your performance on Logic.

I'm MIDI illiterate, so try to download a pdf manual for your MPC to explain the hook up better.

Personally I wouldn't even bother with that keyboard trying to trigger the MPC, or vice versa. That keyboard doesn't have MIDI, unless you route it through a computer, and that is a whole other mountain to climb.

Your best bet at this point, is to plug the audio OUT of your keyboard into the audio IN on your mpc, sample the sounds, then just use the MPC exclusively after that, and play the sounds from the MPC. This actually works pretty good and is a lot more rewarding than feeling helpless on the internet.

If you get a proper MIDI keyboard, then you can start thinking about triggering things. Until then, forget using them at the same time.

And take note, I'm not saying it's impossible with what you got, it's just way more complicated.

If your keyboard had midi, it's literally plug and play.

Since it doesn't its:
1) get drivers for keyboard on your computer
2) get daw for you computer
3) plug in keyboard to computer
4) configure daw to work with keyboard
5) configure daw to route midi properly
6) connect midi cables from audio interface to mpc

a lot of stuff that is very particular to your set up.

ps. just a protip, even though you have SMPTE jacks, you likely don't have the SMPTE chip, and even if you did, it has absolutely nothing to do with anything you are trying to do. It's more for recording to tape.

from the specs on the Casio websites the keyboard has no MIDI IN. It can only do MIDI over USB.

so he'd need to go MPC MIDI OUT -> interface MIDI IN, and interface USB -> keyboard, and set the midi channels appropriately everywhere, which is going to be too hard for him, which is why I said he should forget midi and just sample the sounds for now, and assign them to his pads

he originally said he wanted to sample the sounds in the MPC, not in Logic, which would mean connecting the keyboard outputs to the MPC inputs.

but I don't think he has a clue what he wants to do or what the gear can do

I think he needs an ASR, a Linndrum II and a Fairlight to get it working

Georgie........come on dude! I don't believe you're really trying to get your thread locked again. :? And I really don't think you're that short on the thinking, but I could be wrong.

Dude, quit while you're ahead because clint just told you what you shouldn't be doing and you're doing it anyway. I don't get it, you are def one of a kind, and if you're serious and not playing, then I'd really suggest you pick another hobby because this def ain't your cup of tea.

You just asked which inputs you need to hook up on the mpc and it's CLEARLY labeled on the back of it where to hook up any audio source to sample.

I'm done at this point and wish you the best in whatever endeavors you pursue.

Peace.

On second guessing, I do believe somebody is impersonating as being loose in the marbles and we're falling for this sh!t.

Dude, **** you and read the manual which I know you have'nt because you don't know which was the audio in. If you read the manual you'll see the pretty pictures on what goes where.
