scsi to usb adapter

i have an old fostex fd-4 multitracker. It's a 90's machine and not exatley "up to date" with the connections. It has scsi...
I'm wondering what would be the best/most efficient/ least lossy -way to get those tracks into my computer. (It's a windows PC with XP).
I was thinking about getting a zip drive. but those discs are small (data wise).
Then I found out about the scsi to usb adapters.
seems like a good solution to me.
Does anyone on here have any experience with those?
any advice?

Per your manual, it says that you can transfer your tracks via optical out @ 44.1k to any digital device that accepts optical in.

So don't you think it would be cheaper & easier to grab yourself an optical cable and send this to the optical in on any soundcard that has these connections?

That's the best way that I can see to transfer your tracks from the fostex to your daw.

Or is it that you're not quite with the newer technology yet and most of your stuff is outdated or something?

BTW, what kind of s/c are you working with anyway?

just a regular cheapass soundcard that came with the pc (which was sorted out from a school computer ro0m because it was too old about 8 years ago ).. all it has is a headphone- and a mic jack...
But hey atleast the computer itself was updated wit USB ports.

I know I'm gonna have to get a decent soundcard someday. But I'm on a tight budget, so i guess I'm gonna have to use what I got, improvise and be creative with it.

you mean scsi pc adapters, as in connecting the fostex straight to the pcs harddrive?
