RME fireface 800 and Logic?

The government just stimulated my bank account and now I'm thinking of stepping up my audio interface hardware. I've heard good reviews about the RME FF800. Right now I'm running Logic 8 on an intel quad-core iMac with M-Audio FW410 as my interface. (BTW avoid the FW410 like a plague if you can!)

Would the RME FF400/800 be a good interface for Logic? Do they work together fine? I do a lot of tracking from outboard gears so I need the I/O's. I'll be using MIDI a lot too. Just wanted to get some insight from users before I drop the cash on the RME.

yea i read tons of bad reviews regarding issues with that M-Audio FW410 interface...I think RME and MOTU are solid even though I have no experience with them.

RME has the most solid and stable interfaces on the market IMO. They have the very best drivers, and any sort of routing you can imagine, you can accomplish with totalmix. I've owned an HDSP9632 and a Multiface. I now own an 828mkII (with the Black Lion Audio converter/clock mod) and its also rock solid, but not as flexible as the RMEs when it comes to signal routing. However, with the Black Lion mod it sounds waaayyyy better than my multiface and 9632. I don't have a fireface so I can't comment on its sound quality.

Ya, the Fireface800 is meant to sound better than the multiface. The MF1 being worse than the MF2.
I've owned a Fireface800 for a few years and can highly recommend it. It's very flexible and the drivers are rock solid (at least on my Windows PC, can't say for Mac's). I do a lot of tracking with my outboard too.
Just make sure that it's fully compatible with your Mac's firewire chip.
