Question about turntable mixer outputs

Maybe seems like a newb question but I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about this to get the best sound possible..

Question one:

Which ones are best to send to the inputs of my mpc? Master outputs or record?

Question two:

Gain stage

Should I live the gain structure on the mixer on zero and turn the rec gain on the mpc up? Or should I leave the rec gain on he mpc at zero and control the level going to the sampler from the gain stage of the tt mixer??

I've always understood ( I could be wrong) that the gain is the strength at which the signal pushes out, so for example if a record is playing at a low volume do to wear or the original recording you can push the overall signal much like you do in a compressor, I have my gain set as high as i can without clipping in my dj mixer, and then my mpc record volume turned up to mid way (12 oclock posistion) and have no issues and good quality. Depending on the settings on your mixer it wount' matter what outs you use that is more for live applications where the monitors come out of the MAIN and a recording or device would go to the record out, but to sample i use the main outs.

In my case the REC out has a lower volume and is unbalanced.
