Hi,
I'm running Vailixi 3.5 OS on a 3K and I'm tryin to get a pcd47b CF card reader to work with it...
The card reader is functional with the 3k and I can load everything I have from a card I made in the past with another 3k with internal cf card reader (I sold it now).
The problem is that I think the pcd is set as read only and I would like to update its firmware...

I would like to know if anybody made the update ? and if you get success from this manip ? (from Read-only to Read-Write).
Which one is the right firmware ? m3.2 ?

Thank you in advance for your experts advices ;)

Yes, you want to install 3.2 and you can get both the firmware file and the loader program here:

http://www.midicase.com/downloads/PCD47-m32.zip

Your Windows PC will need to have a SCSI adapter card in it so that you can attach the PCD-47B to it and do the upgrade. The program used to load the firmware is a little confusing the first time you use it - if you want to PM me once you have everything ready, I'll be glad to walik you through the update. Or you can always send me the PCD-47B and I'll do the upgrade for you at no charge. You'd just have to pay shipping.

Thank you Keyman ;)

I plan to do it by myself on a WinXP tower I have with a PCI SCSI card into it... That would be OK?

Yes, that should be fine. Any SCSI adapter card will do - you just need a working SCSI interface that will allow you to access the PCD-47B. You'll also need either an external case that you can install the PCD-47B into, at least temporarily. If you don't have that, you'll need a CN50 to IDC50 cable and some sort of 5VDC power supply.

The PCI card I have has an internal 50pins ribbon connection so I will install the drive directly into the tower and this way I can also get the +5VDC from the PC's PSU.

Thanks a lot for your help Keyman ;)

That sounds like a good plan. One thing to remember on the application for updating the firmware - be sure to set the SCSI ID numbers for each of the card slots in the app to match how they are set on the drive. If this doesn't match, the app will freeze when you try to do the upgrade. If you have the card slots set to be 0, 1 and 2 (no jumpers at all on the drive), then set the slots to be that in the app, remembering that the card slot order is PCMCIA, SM and CF.

i try with different pcd 47b, with latest firmware, with vailixi too... in any case i can only read form that scsi reader... not able to write (freeze)

now i have a pcd25 and it works perfectly... people confirm it works with pcd47b but i would not be so sure... some say it depends on the revision code of pcd, something like "maybe more recent have a different chipset so u can write"... can 't confirm btw
let us know, just curious
