i use to get mad at that... but i learned not to force to record/make beats. that sound your are looking for will come with time and practice.

i get on my MPC almost daily and i hardly ever record any beats, maybe 1 beat per week. ill find a nice sample, chop it, mess with it for 30mins maybe add some drums, then turn the MPC off.

i just do it for fun and to keep my ear sharp and so i don't forget how to use the MPC. i remember i took a year long break from making beats, when i got back on the MPC it felt like i was almost starting all over again, not a good feeling.

all you can do is just do work.

the truth, been doing that since i got the thing. ill be working on a beat for an hour or two, and even if one of my homies is bumpin his head to it ill just turn the mpc off cuz i know i can get better. i know ill get that feeling when the beat is right and worth tracking out.
