ADAT Question

Hello,
easy question here. Just feeding 8 analogue outs and 8 adat channel outs into protools. If I'm not mistaken it seems that you can't send the analogue channels and adat channels seperately - they effectively mirror each other. so I can still only do 8 channels out at a time not 8 analogue and 8 ADAT digital ( to make a total of 16).

Can't find my damm manual at the moment or the pdf for the adat board - so hoping someone can just tell me. Cheers

And I have the adat card too. So yes, it's just a mirror of what goes on with the original 8 analog channels.

thanks for your reply dab - not the one I was hoping for unfortunately - some of my greatest laid plans have now been laid to rest. DOH!

Since you have both the 8 outs and the ADAT what are your preferences in terms of tracking. Specifically in terms of sound/tone etc. Obviously it would depend on what your running your 8 outs through ( desk/ AD converters etc) , any general observations?

plus I don't suppose that there is a way to get the EFX that you may have added to a pad to travel with the sound out of it's channel.

You can actually send 10 channels out, as the L and R master outs ( = SPDIF L + R) can be set to be different from ADAT 1 & 2.
