MPC3K CARD READER / ZIP PROBLEMS

Fellas,

I have a huge problem:

I have been using an internal card reader from scsiforsampler.com for months now (without any problems).
But due to the fact that 80% of the beats I need for my album are saved on ZIPs I am trying to use a zip on the MPC as well.

The installing kit scsiforsamplers.com allows you to have the internal card reader but also a scsi output on the back. The problem is, I have already copped three ZIP drives and just tried one that my homie has on his 3K - but none of them worked. I have set the SCSI ID on every possible number (which are only 5 and 6), went to disk - format, copy, other - make active...told the MP to make the numers I set on the drive active...but it always tells me that no scsi drive could be found....

I have no idea what to do and I am desperate lol...I really hope somebody on this wise board can help me.

just in case anybody will have the same problem and finds this thread by using the same function.

With the help of JD (thanks again, always a great support) the problem was solved.
As much as I am ashamed of being that stupid, I hope my honesty might help somebody in the future:
I did not know that there has to be a disk inside the ZIP drive when you boot the mpc, otherwise it wont be recognized by the 3K.

Once I put a disk into the drive and booted the MPC, I could use both, the card reader and the zip drive with it - which makes the card reader even more useful as I can now transfer my projects from those old zips onto CF cards...DOPE!

maze, I was glad to help you and don't feel bad about missing the requirement that the zip disk be inserted before you power up the MPC. That is not the case with computers - you can put a disk in anytime and the drive will work - but with the MPCs, they insist that a zip disk be in the drive prior to booting.

Glad the solution was that easy and not a hardware problem.
