MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

The 5000 is official hands down! I own a NI Maschine and got rid of my MV8800 for the Maschine.

1. The Maschine is great for those that just want a on the go beat or playing live. It has great sampling capabilities and the support of VST in 1.6 is amazing, but i only use this when i am in the house and get a creative Jones in my bones and want to knock it out real quick..not saying that it is incapable of handling complexed ideals.

2. The Mv 8800 was a great tool it's powerful interface with the vga out had me somewhat back to the computer interface feeling from which i came from, but i was advancing and the hard to find 8 outs for the unit was a pain in the behind and didn't meet my requirements for the job needed to be done.

3. The MPC 5000 IMO is a beast I bought one despite all of the negative feedback it has gotten and went on my own crusade to judge it by actually owning it. I have to say that it is all there and I cansider myself a lucky guy for getting it for such a great low price. The ease of using this Machine is incredible, I've learn the basics and was able to get things to the way i wanted it to work in ONE night. I had the 5000 for a while and haven't experienced half of what the negatives are saying about this unit. I mean I feel bad for the people who've had bad units and i hope it workd out for them. My personally, I am in love with this and believe Akai made a mistake in the beginning but quick patched it up.

If you are thinking abou getting a MPC 5000 GET ONE!!!

Some will disagree due to the fact that they KNOW there vintage MPC But its your turn go for it so you can know yours!!!!

I won't question the guy's sincerity but it still wreaks of desperation.

I think that most that have read through this forum realize that the 5000 is a bit buggy. Which is why the forum has watched it go from a feature request wishlist at it's start to giant bug thread now. What people KNOW about the other machines mentioned is they consistently work without crash or incident. If the 5000 was what you described for most ,Akai wouldn't find themselves having to resell so many customer returned units on their own site. Truth be told.

The only thing matters is your happy with it.

Go to any mpc model page on this site and you will find a topic about a bug or problem someone is having with their model...... Even the all mighty 4000 has some "bugs" in it acording to others on the site.

Nothing is perfect. Let's just get back to what really matters..... The music!!!!

What I really dont get is why on earth people dont post the actual bug. At least users should try to recreate the ones listed. You can than give Akai a factual list of bugs. Im going thru the bug list and truth be told I havent been able to recreate them.
