So I have my KP3 MIDI'd up to the MPC. Soft MIDI thru is OFF on the MPC, (Does the KP3 have a soft through?) I am recording my pad motions and playing them back with the MPC Sequencer, and it works great Except: Sometimes the Kaoss Pad will get Stuck, acting like the hold button is activated and I can't make it release without turning the power off and on again.

Very annoying in the studio, and Completely unacceptable for live shows. Anyone else ever run into this? Any way around / through it?

Thanks in advance.

I have a KP3 (& jjos2xl!) I'm trying this now... KP global channel is set to '1'. No problems yet on a 2-bar loop - I'll try longer loops & maybe lots more events.

as for soft thru - no. As far as I can see, nothing received on the KP's midi in is sent to the midi out (except sysex or stuff during dumps...haven't looked for that).

I love the midi monitor in jjos.

Doh! Figured it out. I was stopping the sequence while the message was being sent to the KP. If you do that, the MP continues to tell the KP to hold. Solution: Run the sequence until the "release" signal is sent. Newb problem. I am ashame.

Hi there, im new to using midi with the mpc, and i have just got the kaoss pad 3

was wondering if any1 could help me out

what i want to do is use the korg as the master tempo (sync the beat clock?) with the mpc and also trigger the mpc sounds so they can be played and looped into the kaoss pad

any help is much appreciated!

there are problems with the KP3 clock drifting, you'd probably be better with the MPC as the clock source

when you use the KP in "Ext.Ctrl" mode (as a midi controller) you can't use the effects and sampling features

I would use the MPC as the clock, trigger sounds in the MPC (using the MPC pads or MPC sequencer)

you can use the MPC sequencer to record touch pad movements and sample playback and play them back

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can tell the KP3 to start sampling remotely, you can just trigger samples to play

yeah pretty sure that's the case. I wonder if you try one of the KP Looper effects & send 'pad on/off' & 'hold' MIDI ccs to grab bits of audio & play back. Not quite sampling but probably about as close as you'll get hands-free.
