The reason you hear the difference when you change from 16th to 8th is because you are cutting the note interval in half.

Try playing a real rhythm with the hats at 16 and you should clearly hear the difference the swing setting will make.

Also one more note of interest if you are at 160 because you are trying to do double tempo your measures should be 8/4.

Guy, for somebody who told the op he had to change measure to use double time........ ??? Youre quite sure of yourself.

You change the measure to 8/4 so it's easy to lock up with other devices or projects that people may send you.
And yes I'm sure of very myself.

CoinUp! wrote:Make sure the undo button is lit after you do a TC change. That's how u know it has been applied. You have one undo to get back to the previous state. But you should also be able to do that with the TC in the menu.

btw. Does the TC works when using 16th note with the noterepeat button? And when selecting a pad instead of ALL it still doesn't swing? Do you have swing on other signatures? (Changing from 16th to 8th has nothing to do with swing/shuffle in MPC sence.)

If not i'm afraid it's a defect on your 5000.

The undo button is lit after making changes in note value, window, and shift timing. However, it's not lit after making changes to swing% and strength. I never even thought to look at that... Yes, TC works with note repeat. I can easily tell the difference when swing is on/off during note repeat with 16th notes. Just tried to see if it works with other signatures, but it froze. I checked out my friends MPC5k too, and couldn't get the swing to work either. Looks like this might be an actual problem.

hey screwstoned after watching the video you are dong everything right except instead of putting 1/16 in the swing menu just put 1/4. A good way to wrap your head around it is to put 16th notes on the kick drum and apply the 1/16the swing then start deleting notes till you get just the 1/4 note and you'll be left with no swing.

im pretty sure the swing on 1/16 and on 1/8 do the same thing if your just playing quarter notes or 8th notes. for example, if you set the quantize to 1/16 but play 8th notes over it, its going to have the same swing effect as if you play 8th notes w 1/8 on the quantize.

im not 100 percent on that incase someone wants to correct me but im pretty sure thats how it works.
