I'm getting conflicting reports.

Ok. getting conflicting reports here.....I just bought a midi keyboard...It's already been established that using the autochromatic function on the MPc 2000xl will scale the sounds on the mpc pad and then therefore scale it on the Keyboard...So I can play it over the keys... I have the Mpc 2000 classic..I don't have that function,autochromatic...So how do I do this on my Classic mpc. I even did the search on it...I couldn't come up with a definate answer..Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dont think you can do that wit the 2000. i use the classic too. i could have sworn someone mentioned this before but not sure if your able to do it or not. it wont be a huge burden on you though.......

Sorry, you cannot do autochromatic sampling with the classic 2000. You can assign the same note to every pad & tune them yourself, but then the default midi notes for the pads are not a clean set of steps from pad A1 to D16. You can change the midi note numbers, but then they won't be set to that basic midi protocol for drum kits on modules, where midi note 36 (MPC pad A2) is the kick, note 37 (pad A1) is a rim, 42 (pad A3) is a closed hat & 46 (pad A7) is the open hat etc. But you might not be sticking to this layout on the MPC so that won't matter.

You can use the note variation assign function.

What I suggest is.....get an old Akai rack sampler like the S3000xl & do your chromatic stuff with that & keep the MPC for what it is best at.
