Need help connecting to the computer with MPC1000

I just got my mpc today, and wanted to put JJOS on to it. I downloaded the OS onto my mac computer but when trying to connect the mpc through USB, it wouldnt show up :S. I then decided to put the 128mb card it came with into my PC as it has a slot for it. Again it wouldnt show up :s. I dont know whats going on, and i cant even put my drum hits on it if it wont show up. And off topic abit here, when i assign sounds to the pads on my mpc, PAD14 always sounds much quiter than the rest for some reason and when i try to get back to the main menue by pressing the main button, Nothing happens ! whats goung on ?

can you use the card in the MPC?

check the mixer levels for that pad on the mixer screen

your main button might need replacing - was the mpc new?

The mpc was a display model, but i got it to work, you kind of have to press in slowly, im literally begging you to help me with this other problem i have : I just installed JJOS 3.12 onto my MPC and when recording Drums on it there is an echo or repeat after it ? How can i get rid of this ? And when i hit certain pads i can hear em fine in my headphones but when i listen back to it i can barely hear it ! whats going on, please help me !
