Strange...

I just installed JJOS 3.12 onto my MPC and when recording Drums on it there is an echo or repeat after it ? How can i get rid of this ? And when i hit certain pads i can hear em fine in my headphones but when i listen back to it i can barely hear it ! whats going on, please help me!

Have you checked to see if your effects are turn on? What your describing sounds like your delay is on. I would start there.

Check your "Vel%" value. Vel% affects the playback of recorded velocity but doesn't affect the sound when you are just hitting the pads. If you have FULL LEVEL turned on if for Vel% is set to 50, eventhough the velocity is recorded at 127, it will play at 50% of the velocity and will sound quieter than when you just hit the pad, it also works the other way around to so if the velocity recorded is 80 but then you turn up the Vel% to 200 the velocity play back will be as if it was recorded at 127 (wont play it back any louder than full velocity at 127 no matter what the percentage is).

Not sure if if this will fix your problems but it's a good starting point.

sounds like an issue with pad sensitivity. double taps. user probably has his pgm on mono and is double tapping his pads. 2nd hit is cutting off the first one. fairly classic.

Yup. Adjust your technique. Tap and lift.

Also, if you have the new style pads, fill the space between the pads and the pad sensor board. There's a product you can try, called pad corx by mpcstuff.com. But if you're a DIY'er, I use cut up squares of a record cover and double sided tape.

thanks for the help, i restored the original akai os becuase i was unsure but ill retry JJOS tomorow, i can assure you my technique is good lol. I dont double hit the pad. Ill let you guys know tomorow

You don't have to double hit to double trigger.

You have the classic pads stutter problem which only happens with free JJOS, try any of the pay versions and the problem won't be there It also happened to me, but the good news is that I think you will have the newer/better pads (because I have). Upgrading to JJOS 2 XL is highly recommended, it is superb.

I always wonder when I read some of these posts, why in world would anyone want to return to akai os!.... Not criticizing,just in wonderment

could it be midi loop back? sometimes installing different OS can change default settings in these parameters, like midi in, out , thru and so on.

No, it is a definite problem with certain 1000 pads and free JJOS, he should update it really as it was my first experience of JJOS and it is very frustrating. I too went back to akai until somebody on this forum told me of the problem and said to try the pay versions, and like magic the issue is gone. Seeing as I have the newer pads, I think that JJOS free works with the older style pads without any issues. I can't imagine being confined to the akai OS now..

These posts crop up fairly regularly usually as motorbike effect or something like that, the problem as I remember is that the aftertouch actually re-triggers the sample, so when you just push a pad it will produce the motorbike stuttering.. It makes the MPC absolutely unusable.

try adjusting the pad sensitivity, i think i remember that when this os was developed, the mpc pads were in fact a different build, so it could be that. have you checked JJ's website for more details?

lol, sorry to be repeating myself but there is no fix, it is a bug in JJOS free, the ONLY solution is to use any other JJOS version. If you had experienced the problem you would understand...

sorry hahah, so does that mean ALL free JJOS users are having to put up with this?
