I haven`t used export function as of yet. But GB for iPad is like an all in one unit in the box. Export is basically for a finished song send to iTune or emailed to your friends. Though you can solo tracks and export audio files to your computer. In the link I placed there is a video tutorial next to the GB info that shows the basics. GB is more of a sketchboard for writing ideas but it does sound pretty damn good for a 6 dollar app. It is true the psuedo mpc kit with pads consists of 808 kit, house hit, and bland hip hop kit but it is easy to program with or without quantization and it has a small swing settings too. In no way can it compare to a real mpc but it not. It has a audio recorder and a sampler to use and the ease of use basically you don`t need to read a manual it is so simple. It is one of the best apps for the iPad I came across and since it was designed by Apple it works well.
Please check the videos on the usage and for all others it definitively isn`t a Logic for iPad so no advanced features. But if you go by less is more you can do just decent mobile tracks with it. Export the audio to your big setup later.
I`m not going to speculate on future versions but Apple is pretty decent with app upgrades.
I use my OG iPad for everything. It is cool and very useful.
