It is for setting the preset on external midi devices on the selected midi channel. The synth will then be automatically set to the correct sound when the sequence first plays. If the synth has more than 128 presets, then you neeed to press the window key to select the MSB and LSB as well as the program number. It is essential when working with external midi gear as it means you don't have to set the synth sounds on the synth. The only thing currently lacking is to select the vol and pan via the mixer, but I've requested this and it will apparently be in the next update. Once that is enabled, mixes will sound identical every time you load up a project (in the same way that internal MPC stuff does)

haha me too!

Murai did mail me again to say it would be in the next release, I did also ask that you don't have to press stop to set bank MSB/LSB to ON, or have an option so it is always switched on, so hopefully both will make it in. The latter really interrupts creative flow for me, one thing I love about the MPC is you can build up sequences quickly without stopping (when using the internal programs).

"Your request will be realized by the following version.
It was said that JJ was changed by the next version. "

I've also had my only other request included which was to turn the xfade loop to forward. It is astounding to be able to request such features and they are implemented, if only this was the way the whole world worked :)

I know this is far fetched & the GUI is already packed. But it would be nice if we could see our bank & program assignments from the main screen. But right now I'm just happy knowing were gonna have the vol/pan feature. H.a.m!

There are 2 types of program changes. Midi program changes in sequencer depend on synth, and seem the one you guys are talking about mostly. And different synths take different program change messages, with bank select messages as well, hence the MSB stuff. midi has like a standard program change message which of course the MPC can send, so as mentioned above you can load a project and have synths and FX boxes set up with the programs you want. I noticed JJossends these program changes with out hitting start, and was impressed with that.

The other program change is MPC program changes. You can set the MPC to change the program in the sequencer when ever you want, kinda fun and recomend you play with em. So mid sequence you can swap your drum program to something different, say like entirely diferent drum kit

UPDATE>>> I went to look for prog changes in JJOSXL but cant find em. I can find midi programme change but not MPC realtime program changes. I swear this was in akai os, why not JJOSXL

^^^^under mode-pad 9,f1 there's change sequence by p.c.
& in the drum program list ( highlight prg then press the window button) you can assign midi p.c.'s to drum prg's.Is that what your looking for?

No thats when you want to change a sequence from a midi message, in this case program change, sent to the MPC from a DAW or such right??

I am talking about a realtime sequence event that changes what program is used on that track. It is missing from JJOSXL and it bugs me big time. There is a Program change by hitting pads window, but this is a realtime thing that can not be recorded to sequence which makes me more sure its missing from the JJOSXL  I want it back.

I know what you mean blip, and I def. read it in the (Akai)manual.
never really felt the need to use it though, so I'm not even sure if I can do the same with my OS.
can I??
might actually come in handy for changing drumkits in a session situation...

Well you can still change a program by p.c., but you have to enter it manually. Step edit mode.

I cant see it, thats how i implimented it in Akai OS. I find it very useful. case in point, say i want to reverse every drum hit, i could copy program and reverse that new program and change the drum kit in the sequence to that reversed program at any time if the function was not removed by JJOSXL.

Presently i have to go making copies of multiple tracks and changing programs manualy of each and every copy. You know to change the program but not really change sequence. like my example of reversing evrything in my drum kit program. It is the only workround i can see if i want to put together a sequence together with changes the programs I choose in my sequence

kinda sucks having to copy and change every track that i want to change, when i could just program change in the sequence on the track i want to change program.I noticed that it works in song mode though kinda - if you copy sequence and change programs it knows and plays changes. BUT if you convert the function is not there so changes are IGNORED. :x plus the fact it uses the first sequence to set program of the tracks.

IMHO there is an amazing amount you can do if it had that one realtime sequence function of changing programs.

I'm not asking for Qlink slider malarky just a MPC program change. Keep the midi ones of course, I use that for my synths as well

What version are you using? Because in the latest version you can go into step edit mode, push insert button,@ the time you wanna change kits. Then enter program change # of the kit you want & it will change. Mode- pad 14 - f5. Type:program change - f5 "do it" then change the program change number to the kit you want. But first you have to set the program change numbers to your drum programs. Main screen highlight pgm. Press window set the p.c numbers.

AHA thanks. I thought it was to impliment midi to program change mpc from daw. but yeah makes sense to do it that way for internal and of course its set to default off. So when i inserted program change nothing happened. The assigning numbers to program was where i was going wrong. Thats awesome now it works. thanks again
