Questioning my MPC1000

So my predicament is that I don't utilize my MPC 1000 nearly enough, when I do use it I usually just am using it for drums, movie samples, or to use the sliders in tune mode to create the DJ scratching effect.

I recently tried REASON5 and found that they have the new KONG virtual MPC in it and I was wondering if I should sell my MPC 1000 and just pick up an MPD 32 and use it through the KONG.

Can all the functionality, including the tuning sliders, be recreated within reason5 and an MPD 32?

its a matter of opinion, but I don't think you'll match the sampling and chopping power of a 1k with jjos installed compared to reason 5...and i use both

Well another part of my problem is that I'm still a huge noob and I use reason recycle to chop my samples and then I load them into my MPC via bluebox so I'm really not even using the JJ OS for any of the chopping or loading.

Another question I was about whether or not there was a feature similar to the note on or one shot of the MPC when using the MPD and reason

Did you read the friendly manual?

your problem is you haven't gotten to learn your mpc enough.. abandoning it for the next gear you most likely will not learn enough will probably yield you the same results. and that's an assumption i'm making based off your first efforts with the 1k.

i use an mpc and reason 5 and they are two completely different things. not to mention you have to use recycle for sample chopping in reason... that is absolutely nothing like an mpc.

an mpd is not an mpc and never will be. i don't care if you find a way to mimic everything the mpc does thru an mpd and computer.. it is not the same thing and never will be.

if you're in to tweaking drums an mpc is way better than kong, and yes, kong can stack samples too.
