You can sample sounds out of modules/keyboards or get 'em off old records. Some website offer free sounds. Also, check out the old posts in the Production Techinques forum, there's some interesting tips on creating your own sounds. Check out the Sound Exchange, and posts from Ego Killa too. You can pretty much sample anything the emits noise..... tapes, dvds, cds, tv, video games, whatever.
I'm not sure what direction you plan to go in, but old records are the best place to start, imho.

I found that the next best thing to do after u get a sampler is to purchase a mixin board(if u dont already have one). This makes sampling a whole lot easier for those that dont mind sampling anything they can think of. But to be frank... try to get a mixing board with EQ's (sweepable if possible.. yamaha makes the best), this way no matter what sound you sample ex: a 808 kick... you can eq it especially with the sweepable mid's to be gutter or nice and sharp. Alot of people sample famous producers kicks and snares but dont understand with EQ's and your own imagination... you can basically do the same if not better. A simple mixing board like a yamaha md8 allows you to add other samplers and sound modules, cd players, turntable, vcr, Dj mixer., etc... and sample from them. And the best part once again... you can EQ it to your liking ... eliminating noise... addng base... whatever !!! Peace
