That was @moyphee regarding the guy in the youtube videos that were linked in moyphee's post. The guy in the videos is making music and using his gear.

You'll hear this alot but in all honesty its the truth.
'Its not the equipment one owns but more so the human whose behind the gear itself.'

You can be ready to make beats whenever you want at any age, there is no specific correct time and place as to when one could be ready for making music, its all about when one chooses to get focused, make the choices and put to good use the little things that one owns!

sit down and play with the damn thing for atleast a couple months, since these experts on the forum told me that, its all i do. A stupid question here and there but i keep learning. you'll eventually get that great feeling of success when you figure something out on your own without anybodys help, it'll give you the confidence to keep figuring out more stuff. when you're REALLY bummed out, and searched high and low, then yea this is the best place to ask a question. im still a noob and thats why i read up on this website daily, just to learn something new! i do hate manuals quite a bit though, i prefer videos. it seems like people expect the manual to tell them how to make a dope beat, thats where creativity comes in...

the problem with video tutorials is that most of them are shit and unclear, and sometimes it's not easy to see what's happening on a low-res video even if you rewind it and keep replaying the same bit

the manual might be dry and boring, but at least it's (usually) accurate

thats very true, i don't think i've seen one good detailed video that actually focuses on teaching. I usually use them for reference on the process, approximate time, and the different styles of production. definitely need to read the manual to learn the basics, but i think videos help you to use that knowledge since you can sit there and know what process the beatmaker in the video is going through, thus gaining some confidence.
