Okay, you read the title but don't hate me.
1.) I have the mpc1000 and emu xk-6 synth/keyboard connected via midi.
2.) I have it so i can press record on the mpc and it will record the sounds when i play from the keyboard or pads.
My question is about embedding program changes?
i tried looking up what this is and from my understanding, in the xk-6 i have to have a "program" or something with all the different presets i used so when i reload the beat, the mpc will load the midi data and call on this "program" in the keyboard to use the correct corresponding sounds.
And finally, the reason i am trying to figure this program changes thing out is because i can record one sound on the mpc, but when i try to record a different sound on the same beat it always defaults back to the first sound in my keyboard.
so to sum up:
i have the keyboard and mpc1000 connected via midi
i can record one sound from the keyboard
BUT when i switch tracks in the mpc (i change the midi channel btw to 2a) (i've also not changed it and either way it doesnt work) it still is on the first sound from the keyboard
i also tried changing the midi channel in the xk-6 keyboard to correspond with the mpc track but it still uses the same original sound.
Any advice or knowledge to where im going wrong would help me a lot.
i've been trying to do this for two days and i cant seem to get it just right.
Im not super unknowledgable either. i know that midi doesnt transmit audio etc, im not this advanced though.
p.s.
local control is off in the keyboard...
i've found a lot of info online but i just cant seem to get this exactly right
to me it seems like i should have midi track 1a in the mpc, and use channel one on the keyboard, midi track 2a in the mpc and use channel 2 in the keyboard
