Well all i can say is,for a complex machine there didnt seem to be many bugs in mine(maybe thats selective memory lol).Did the job.Stood its ground next to the 4k(a lil bit thinner and less solid admitedly).Cant ignore the bad feedback tho. :?:

I agree. You know the 4k went through the same thing in the beginning. But apparently folks got use to the few bugs that did surfaced, but not enough to stop them from buying & using it.

Yeah, any complexed machine will have some bugs that may have got missed during its final check through before it made it to the masses.

But it's the updates that matter. And until those are addressed appropriately, it's going to gain a rep as being so so or whatever.

been hearing some bugs about the 5000 but dont know how much is true and i've never used it so cant say

i played around on the 4000 and it was sweet i'd def like to have one

SOS even described the 4000 as a "black sheep'" at one point when the 5000 came out...

"The latest in this noble line is the new MPC5000, a beefed-up big brother to the MPC2500 (and not, as some might guess, a sequel to the MPC4000, which was rather the black sheep of the MPC flock, more related to the Z-series samplers, and discontinued some time ago)."

I think with hindsight, the reviewer my want to reconsider his position as the now discontinued MPC4000 is in high demand relative to other MPC's.

The term 'black sheep' is not necessarily negative. It just means it is different. To be fair, it is more reminiscent of the Z-Series than of other MPCs.

^Clint did go to the beach? Cause you might have gotten a little sand in your vagina.... JK This whole mpc vs mpc vs everything is a vicious cycle. It's like the chicken and the egg debate.

Well when I was looking for a backup MPC I was contemplating getting a MPC 5000.

I saw this youtube video of somebody making a beat on it..

He played the record first, then the sample. Look how much Low End was lost when it was sampled with the MPC 5000. Thats why I don't buy that theory "you get out, what you put in." At least not with these new MPCs.

Had to go back to the MPC 2000XL as a backup. What it lacks in features it makes up for it in harmonics..and no way is a 5k in the same league as a 4k.

You get out, what you put in... ever occured to you, the sample is played by the 5000 PITCHED UP by a couple of semitones? It's only natural some of the low frequency harmonics will get quieter if you pitch up a sample... on ANY sampler.

Way to go on judging the sonic capabilities of a device by a youtube vid, recorded by the mic of a camera, comparing 2 differently pitched versions of a sample.

I own a 5K, I can test it all day, what I put in, I get out of it.

Im intrigued by the 5k. I'm hesitant though because I had the 2500, made 100s of beats with it....loved it with JJ OS XL..But I just started getting frustrated with the harmonics and the corrective mixing I had to do in Pro Tools.

I went to up to the 4k and immediately could tell the difference in sound..It's a bigger sound, pristine, and more natural sound.

I'm thinking the 5k may have the same vanilla harmonics as the 2500..but I have heard some incredible music produced with a 5k though.

why do always people assume the 5000 sounds like the 2500? they sound REALLY different and have different engines. the 5000 has a lordy, ballsy and well balanced sound. the 1000 and 2500 sound a bit toylike imho because they stress the mid heights, percussions sound like "clap" or "clash", even toms and hihats. the 4000 sound is therefore really punchy and fat, a bulldozer, but a little colder to my ears.
