If you've got a source of interference in the room, changing mics won't do a bloody thing! Track down the noise and eliminate it. Start with the mains and work your way up the chain.
yeah you got to find the source of the noise and eliminate it. its probably a ground loop or a bad cable. something simple usually. as far as ditching the dynamic mic and going to a condenser, if your room isnt treated, a condenser could be a source of noise itself. i had a condenser mic first because that is "what you are supposed to use". i could hear people outside my house, birds singing, flies across the street. so i did a lot of research and ended up buying a shure sm7b dynamic microphone and havent looked back. i used it to record 99% of our album, which is in my signature if you want to hear it.
good luck finding that noise. i think we have all been there. its like some shitty rite of passage!
