Mpc 2000xl Edit Zones/ Sample

Ive been trying to figure this out

Question #1: When i go to the (shift +5 TRIM) screen and i edit the zones to be exactly how i want them to be.
But when i hit edit and slice the sound it messes up how i edited the zones.
How do i get the zones to be saved the way i edited them

Question #2 : When i sample is there a faster way to spread the sample thru out the pads . Or do i have to do it manually ? one at a time ... ?

How does it 'mess them up'? There is a feature I think to add silence or maybe a bit of extra padding at the beginning and/or end of the sample, maybe you are using that inadvertently. I don't remember the details, but I'm sure it's in the manual.

You have to do it manually.

@nogginj- Ok lets say i edit the zones to be how i want them . Then what?

cause when i do that it changes the zones back to how they were and not how i edited them.

So you're saying, you set all the zones, then when you hit 'slice sound', you get multiple samples that are the original, unedited zones?

Don't get offended, but that sounds like user error somewhere. Are you switching to a different sample? Are you sure you are hitting 'Do It'?

Do a sanity check....set it to two zones, and make the first zone very very very small. Then slice that. Did it come out as one very small sample and one longer sample? Or two equally sized samples.

Honestly the way you describe it happening is not how it works, so I have to assume you are doing something slightly different than what is expected. I can't imagine the OS glitching out in such a controlled manner.

> DO IT

Then all it did was make the zones even again
half & half
it didn't leave me with a small zone and a large zone...
maybe its cause im stooopid and im skippin something
BTW i dont have a manual i am just experimenting everyday all day

Did you watch that video? It is completely unrelated to what you are trying to do. Forget about it.

However, it sounds like you are doing it correct, so I don't really know what the problem is. Good job laying out the steps you are taking so detailed. Which leads me to my next question...after you create the new program, are you using that new program? You realise, once you 'slice sound', it creates a new sound file for each slice you just made.

So I have an idea on what is happening...you are hitting 'slice sound', then you are just staying in trim screen and assuming it didn't work, without even trying to play the pads from the main screen. If you slice a sound, and it creates these new wave files, I cant remember if it does this, but it might load the new wav file into the zone edit screen, and yes, the zones will LOOK like they are back to default, but what you might not realise is that it is actually the NEW wave slice that you are trying to zone now.

After you hit DO IT. Hit MAIN SCREEN and try to play pads A1 and A2. I bet they will have your chops on them.
If not, make sure your new program is loaded into the DRUM 1-4 that you the track is set to.
