i used this to turn my F keys into midi notes for action-triggering use in REAPER since they bypass the focused window unlike regular keys.

don't be intimidated. this is way easy.
a great way to turn a usb joystick into a high functioning midi controller. most thrift stores are full of used gaming equipment. pedals, joysticks, game pads, etc. components begging to be reused.

hell, a wimote makes an awesome controller. you can use a wimote + infrared pen as a mouse controller and build a wand so you can actually draw your CC automation in your daw instead of mousing it.

we're really at the point where we've got to take a hard look at the sh!t we're buying and think...can i make this myself, better, and at a fraction of the cost?

contemporary electronic musicians are spoon fed and they're paying out the nose for it. too much stuff these days hides midi behind a curtain. it should be out in the open.
