ok im using logic 9 and i followed the instructions on this thread but im not able to seperate tracks when recording? everything seems to on there own midi channel but i can only get it too play back on midi channel 1?for example i cant play trk 1 and 2 on my mpc at the same time?

I dont have Logic 9 so I honestly can't tell you if there are any differences for the purposes of this tutorial.

But if you can only play one track at a time, you've obviously made a mistake somewhere along the way.

Lot's of people have got this setup working so perhaps you should go through this thread to see if there are any specific references to Logic 9...

Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'd suggest doing what Blue Haze told you in your original thread...

thanks Clint, this is what i been lookn for.
i got a 2000xl, a midi oxygen kboard and everything looks ok, except for the part where i should be able to select the channel from the mpc to logic (9. Works? Great! Now on the MPC use the thumbwheel to change the midi out channel. Try all the channels to confirm that all are routed to the matching instruments in Logic. As you turn the thumbwheel thru the channels observe the Logic mixer to see which instrument is playing.)

i cant switch from a channel to the other from the mpc, what am i doing wrong?basically the midi notes trigger a different track as soon as i highlight so i cant layer stuff.
thanks.

edit: i seem to have same problem of the guy before me btw :(

^^ this is very simple.

Main screen, scroll down to the right of where you choose your drum program, highlight where it says 'off', and rotate the wheel to change channels. It will scroll through 1-16A and 1-16B.

Make sure 'DRUM' is actually set to 'MIDI', but technically, it will work even if DRUM is selected, so long as you change midi channels properly.

thanks man but on my 2000 xl it scrolls from 1 to 128 and well i did set the source to midi not drum, i can record the vst's but only one and when i highlight another one the notes i recorded trigger it anyway..

Oh i got you now, you mean the "1a device" part, lemme see.

edit: the mpc still plays the recorded midi notes of the highlighted vst.. :(

I guess its confusing, because there are two places that say "OFF".
The one we are referring to is the one that allows you to choose which DRUM1-4 slot you are using for the track. It will go from OFF to 1-16A and 1-16B 'device', like you said.

The other one is for pgm change. I think it actually says 'PGM'.

Always hard to remember these details without the machine right in front of me.

If you set Logic to 'Auto Demix By Channel' as you should have, and set each track in Logic to receive on a different midi channel as you should have, it will work.

Keep going...

From the MPC you should be able to select from the (up to 16) tracks in Logic which have been properly assigned a midi receive channel using the midi output select.

Without going thru your whole set-up it's difficult to see where you're going wrong. :(

Sounds like you're not too far from getting it...

you have to record-enable all the channels you will be sending midi to. that might help.
