MPC1000 Price Drop?! Why?!

Just looked at the price of buying a new 1000 and seen they've recently dropped by a serious amount.. were £650 now are £499.

My blue 1000's pads need upgrading and a few other buttons but including shipping to the UK I was looking at spending £150-200 to get it working perfect again.
Now this seems a lot when they only cost £500 £499 new.

Just wondered if anyone knows why the price has gone down? is there a new model coming out soon? Just seems strange when everything else is getting more expensive they're getting cheaper

the Frankfurt Messe start in 2 weeks, so a guess for something new is not wrong

Think I'll work around the broken pads for a few more weeks incase something news expected. Been on Akai's website and theres no clues of anything new.

If anything, they are blowing them out before they discontinue it all together. I don't think its likely that a new MPC is coming. Not seeing any price changes in the US. Where are you seeing those prices?

And your repair is no pricier than it was before, and its still way cheaper than getting a new one... Perhaps you can get the pad kit and buttons from a UK dealer to save on shipping costs? Call around.

The over all value is going down, Since the 5k basically flopped you can grap them for around 1200, which means 25's are about a stack, I paid 9 for mine, and its maxed out, thus 1k is in less demand and there are thousands of them used everywhere for sale, so in order to get rid of the "new" ones they gotta drop price. Rarely does anyone buy mpc's brand new, the aftermarket scene is much better way to go and Numark knows that

I didn't think they'd be discontinuing them but thinking about it now, that does make sense. The build quality and popularity of the range has greatly decreased (in my opinion) over the last decade, I doubt they're doing too well nowadays.

Yeah the repairs the same price, i wasn't thinking of getting a new 1000 i was just interested in why the price has dropped all of a sudden.

I'm not bothered paying to fix mine though, its had a lot of use over the years, i've upgraded to a 20gb hd etc so would prefer to keep mine.
I did think about stepping up and buying a new 2500 or 5000 but the 1000 does everything I need it to and I know my way round it with my eyes shut.

I'll stick my neck out and say there's a new batch of MPCs on the way.

haha, crazy. just checked my local dealer here in germany and they are selling the 1000 for 630 euro. last time i checked (beginning of this year) they were 799.

Are you absolutely sure? Did you call and talk to a human? It seems crazy to me that an Akai distributor would have access to some Akai parts and not others. Even if they really don't have it, then they still should be able to do a special order. It just doesn't make any sense.

if akai is releasing a MPC1000 replacement, they will be in direct competition with jjos...

odds are they'd implement some half baked "beginner's ease" or a "Gee wiz" function and scoop up a handful of suckers who need the latest gear, but i'd predict a major bellyflop.

in the meanwhile, the niche market for mpc-pgm playback/editing vsti grows...
run out of polyphony? that's cool. upload your pgm to MPCPGM vsti, turn off your local pgm and set your midi channel...done...

Yeah I'm sure. Spoke to quite a few places and sent lots of emails.
The only place that stocks replacement parts has a replacement kit for £120, approximately $195.
Its not even the upgrade kit, just the straight replacement kit that mpcstuff sell for $25

Nowhere, yet. jj or somebody could make a small killing and a customer out of every DAW-using MPC1000/2500 owner, because they would totally buy it.
too bad my c++ capabilities are so limited.

Didn't JJ already try that with the JJ Sequencer?
