mpd24 pad problem - have you ever heard of this?

I just sold a fully tested mpd24 to this dude locally and he just called me back saying that pad 13 is dead or doesnt work.

I tested all faders, knobs, and pads before i sold it. (Im not that dude selling busted gear. Straight up.) Every single thing lit up and responded with full level on.

I have never heard of an mpd24 having pad issues. I have searched like crazy online and not a single complaint or issue. Im wondering what this could be.

I know on the older mpds they had some pad issues but I thought they did away with the issues in the newer models (24, 32's)

Anyone tested these? (NYM?) or have some insight? Im really not trying to link up with dude again and refund but im not about to leave a fellow beat maker hangin.

I never heard of any issues with the MPD24 sensors either. I had a 16 and currently have the 24 and 32 and have never had an issue with any of them. I've taken apart the 32 to do the cheap applying stickers under the pads sensitivity fix and the sensor sheet is identical to 2000/2500. It seems to me most dead sensor issues are on MPC's that are used as the main studio piece for a lot of years. Basically I'm saying I doubt you killed the sensors with general use and the unit can't be more than 1-3 1/2 years old, plus you tested it.

Is this dude you sold it to well versed in computers/beatmaking? I can't count the times (myself included) I've seen someone think something is broken (pad, key, knob) and it's just that the MIDI is mapped wrong or the program doesn't have a sound assigned to that particular pad/note.

You could tell the guy to hook the MPD24 up to a program using it's Reason preset. It's chromatic starting at MIDI note 36 so a synth or key instrument would be the quickest way to see for sure if the pad sensor is broke.

Ill bet you $1000000 that dude bought it off of you, plugged it in and couldnt figure it out.

He called back this morning and got it working...

Said he took it apart didnt see anything wrong and put it back together and it worked..

Wierd but issue solved.

Whenever I sell on Kijiji/Craiglist, I use a different e-mail and call off a payphone so no bullshit happens afterwards.
