MPC Workflow

What are some of your work flows on the 4000? Do you guys use the Auto chop feature or do you manually chop up all your samples? Do you sample with a Turntable? I have a couple of work flows, my main workflow is to use Recycle to chop up my samples and export the samples and burn them to a CD and then load them into the 4000. I just found out a couple of days that you can use the USB port to load from USB drives...which makes it easiier to load samples that I cut up in Recycle. Actually pretty awesome, just like the 2500 or the 5000...But then sometimes I cut up samples with the MPC 4000...I like the 16 regions slicing...why cant you go past 32 chops? That doesnt make sense when you have 6 banks...I really enjoy the use of that USB port...but my last workflow is using the MPC 4000 with my Yamaha XS6...I enjoy sampling but I do enjoy composing, what are some of your guys favorite ways to create a song?

Can any of you shoot some pointers on sampling? Im trying to learn how to sample parts where there are words, Im only sampling the beginning or blank parts of songs right now. Whats the best way to snatch a sample?

My last workflow is the use of Pro Tools or tracking my beats into Pro Tools for further mixing, mastering, and editing. I love my machine...Im pretty good with it.

How come you've had so many MPC's but yet your asking about others workflow?

man...Im just trying to get some inspiration, Im at my limits I guess...what are some of your production techniques? Im just trying to get some new ideas, I definitely have an idea of what Im doing but Im nowhere near using like 30% of the 4000's capabilities...I just kept flipping MPC's until I found the right one...But I need help on my sampling game...

Just trying to get a convo going, you guys here are my only resource when it comes to MPC's...the only other person I know with a Drum Machine is my mentor but he has a MV-8800...I dont have nobody to talk to when it comes to MPC's so this is like my only outlet.

Well FWIW I haven't used half the features in the 4000, but I'd like to get into the modulation matrix.

But with it being the ONLY fully fledged sampler of the MPC family it's good to know features are there when you need them.

No need for a Z4 or Z8.

Im good with Pro Tools...I got my shit working to the maxxx...I just wanted to get some input on the workflows because it was brought to my attention that Im not using the full potential of my MPC which I already knew but I figured I would get on here and see if I could get some ideas or something...try something new and different. I know how to make beats, thats not the issue...Im just tired of doing the same thing over and over getting the same results...I dont even know what to question about the features of the 4000...thats why I got on here to see what other people do with their machines....I hope this isnt like a noob question...This is a legitimate query.

I hope to chime in on someone elses idea, I just want to have a discussion. Im tired of not being able to discuss my machine with anyone in person, all people do is tell me how much my beats suck and I shouldnt have bought a MPC and all this other BS...This is the only place where I feel that it makes owning an MPC fun...I dont know anyone within a 100 mile radius with a MPC and Im the only one in my area of the Inland Empire with the 4000...Ive seen hip hop shows where the beat dude breaks out a 1000 but cmon now...a 1000? Big Dawgs over here brah...I dont know I just hope someone wakes up and reads this and starts a discussion.

You know of course if you have Akys and a usb cable going from your rear of your 4k you can load samples straight into your 4k and vice versa. And if you want more than 32 chops then you can chop smaller!

if you are using regions and the auto split/make sequence program option in the regions edit page, you could just split your larger sample in 2 or 4 parts, then split those down into regions to spread across your pad banks?

Dayum...so youre saying when I chop my sample I can chop it again, but how do I chop the sample into 2 or 4 parts? Im lost there...when I perform the autochop function I select 32 and then go back to regions and chop those regions down again?
