What I been doin lately is jus trying to narrow it down to jus having something like 15-20 kicks/snares and all preset to my own flavor, it doesnt make since having them kits with hundreds of sounds or any of that stuff filled with useless sounds so anybody trying to improve their music you should do the same. I hear alot of dude's beats and I notice that not too much is put in the quality of the drums which i think and I have been told is something very essential if you wana make a hot beat cuz i mean at the end of the day am trying to achieve something hot and crisp.
Thats what i have done! I have a drum kit with 16 kicks and 16 snares and the other 32 pad spots are just percussion sounds. When i get time ill start a new kit and try to do something different(as far as different type of drums sounds but still the same format) but for the most part my one kit with(16kicks and 16 snares) is not perfect yet so when i come across a new sound that might fit the kit better ill replace a sound thats not too good with it. The sounds i dont use or replace might make the next kit im working on. every day ill retweak the same kit by do lil things. I get a few sounds on ebay my self. The thing about ebay is most of the time you just might get some sounds that have been on so and so website. Hey its wrong but sometimes the chances of getting a treat are good. Pluse for 10or 20 dollars what do you have to loose. i know cats who migh spend that much on records and come up with nothing or maybe a few drum sounds..well i feel its the same thing when i hit ebay up. I dont do it much but maybe 2 or 3 times year.
