so i was thinkning about diggin for cd's more.

CD is too clear, vinyl has that static, and mp3 radio station digging gives you this muddy effect.

there's a whole world to CD that isn't your $150 multi-disc and headphones

same way my tascam 72' has 4 heads in : a master deck that i copped ata yard sale for $25. nothing sounds as analog as that sucker > duppin down to Hi-fi VCR makes for a cheap reel2reel with something of a same bandwidth but chunky.

You don't go digging for cd's. When you go out digging for records most cats don't have portable record players, so the surprise is waiting until you get home to find out what gem you just found. Luckily I have a portable, and know what I'm getting myself into before buying the record, but back when I didn't have it, I had to just guess by looking at the record, year, and who the artists were on that record to determine if it was good or not.

Also, if you have a CD that is rubbish, what do you do with it? throw it away right? The people who sample more from vinyl, and are more collectors of vinyl have a hard time throwing vinyl away if it's ****. I have a few crates of junk, but I know I'll get back around to going through it again, and probably finding something that my ear didn't hear the first time.

Not bashing on CD samplers, but just my two cents from the vinyl collecting perspective...

Speak for yourself, I listen to all styles of music, and I think the more you listen to, the more you can appreciate the cats who produced & remixed. I buy $2 scratch cd's, they work, but the cd's are a little scuffed. But they're a great way to build up a collection of music you wouldn't want to pay full price for. Sometimes I'm just bored at work, and need something to listen to. If I wanted to, I could sample all the cheap stuff I find. What difference would it really make if it were vinyl or cd? It's all getting dumped into the sampler for chopping. Yes, vinyl and cd's sound different, but the end result is all up to you. I'm mainly collecting cd's right now, but eventually I'll get back to vinyl, but at the moment, that's not in the budget. But you just have to be creative with the sounds you find, where you find them!!
