Paranoid Screens

Hey this is question for someone who's used a lot of mpc2000xls.

How long of a life does a screen usually have? I bought a replacement screen and have been using it more frequently. I turn my mpc off when nothings going on because i want to extend the life, but does anyone actually have an idea how long these things usually work for?

my boy said leaving it on for long periods of time will wear the screen down faster (dont know how true that is). ive had mine for bout 2 or 3 years now n i got my mpc2000xl used n i have no lines or anything.

yeah, i'm hoping it's not a serious issue i'll have to deal with anytime soon again. making beats on mpc is a little more methodical and slower so it takes a few hours to get something developed for me, but time well spent i guess

glad im not the only one. Im very para about it too and would also like an answer to the op's question as posted same question before and never got a solid answer

i burnt the screen out on my 2000 classic, i used it for maybe 6 years. Of that time I estimate my MPC was on for around 4 years (no joke!) I left it on in my boiling hot attic room for maybe 6 months one time (i was awaiting some zip discs). Once lines appeared the rate of degradation accelerated

i have the xl now and still keep it on for long periods of time. As soon as i save something, i switch it straight back on and start something new.

They are tough machines, if only getting hold of screens wasn't as much of an issue as it is....

Something I was curious about... I know at least on the 2000 you can disconnect the backlight, I wonder if that would increase screen life?
