Anybody know how to replace tact switches?

My "up" button tact switch died recently and i just got the new one in the mail today. i opened up the mpc and took off the button, but i don't know how to remove the board underneath the buttons in order to desolder and solder the new tact switch on. i took off all the screws on that section of the board but there are a few big white connector things that i can't seem to unplug when i yank on them. can i unplug those? do i just use pliers or something? I don't want to break it. Or am i supposed to take the pads off and the entire board off? Any help would be really appreciated, this is hell of frustrating...
