MPC 2500, Stanton T.62 no mixer, im connecting my TT directly because iv'e read its good for Hum reduction? please correct me if im wrong or if theres a reason that trumps mine in wich i should get a mixer. My question is, is there a certain type of RCA 1/4 jack needed or will any ol' jack work? This is the current RCA cable im thinking about

I just glanced at the manual for your turntable and you will need a phono preamp or a mixer (which will have a phono preamp) to raise the sound to line level.

now im guessing this is about frequency response? and if so my t.62 has 20 kHz and of course the 2500 has 44.1 kHz.... so im going to need a preamp to supply me the additional 24 kHz?

again i dont know what im talking about, just trying to make sence of it all

Gotta get a mixer.... In terms of harmonics and adding color to the sample a decent mixer is invaluable.

44.1 kHz is the sample rate which does not = frequency response.

To reproduce analogue frequencies in digital, the nyquist theorum states that you must sample at twice the highest analog frequency. So 44.1 kHz allows for a frequency response of up to 22.05 kHz, in theory, but the flat freq response is generally up to 20 kHz for reasons I need to do my homework on before I start diggin myself a hole

This issue is one of output levels. The PHONO output of the turntable is too low for the MPC 2500's LINE level inputs. The preamp will increase the turntable's output to one that will work with the MPC's line level inputs. Certain turntables have a phono preamp built in. The one you are using does not. So you need a preamp or mixer to boost the turntables output levels.
