Try formatting the card inside the MPC. Also some CF cards have a write switch, check to see if yours does.

**** YEAH! I figured it out. Took me 6 **** hours. There was a folder in the cf that I created before all of this bullshit and I was not able to drag jjos over. So I deleted that folder and tried to drag jj over again and it worked. I am really sorry for buggin with all the questions. Im sure that siht gets to be annoying but thank you for sticking with me. Next question. What is better? 4.99 or 3.12? Does 4.99 cost? Did 4.55 cost cause that is what I had? Will I be able to upgrade if the the person I bought this from paid for 4.55?

4.55 is an older version of JJ OS1. OS1 costs $59.00, and you only have to pay once.
3.12 is the current version of free JJ OS. It is - yes, free.

I just loaded 4.99l with no problems and am able to save slices now. What a **** relief. I was starting to think that there was a reason why I picked up this MPC for so cheap. Can I do a custom splash with this version? I dont know much about shit but this versions trim mode is way better than 4.55 or 3.12. Diggin it for sure.

Hey, man, I gotta tell you-- the book has a lot of good fundamental exercises in it. The only thing is, it's for the stock OS and the 3.09 . By the time I upgraded to the 4.99(then j), I needed no OS1 book, I just figured out the differences .

So, yeah, I knew a lot of that stuff but we so easily forget the fundamentals
I had just gotten sober and was scared I wouldn't feel no music when I copped it. I Looked at certain parts of the book straight away, then said-eff it! BUST THIS WHOLE BOOK OUT JES! Took my ass back to school. Turned on Betsy and ran through a section every day hands-on style. Before I got done (never) I had to time budget for more beatmaking. It definitely got me unstuck. Inspiration is where you find it, there goes 51 places to look right there !
I know you won't want to move backwards with your OS, but the differences between the actual navigation of 3x and 4x are minor, IMO. This is a good reference (sadly discontinued):

You might not be inspired by such though, I'm not sayin' my way is the best or some shit.
No disrespect to anyone intended at all I promise but if you put the book down, sit it right beside your MPC.
