Macbook pro.

your good with a macbook pro, i use logic 8 on one, stable as hell!

i also have only 40.8 mb left on my harddrive space... still stable as ****.

get one!

mine is also the older model ones, so the new ones have better specs.

im running 2.2 ghz intel core duo processor
and 2 gigs of RAM

i think the new ones come with 4 gigs; but also i think they only have fw800 instead of fw 400 and fw 800.
thats something thats worth looking into.

All true, however you can get adapter to step down to firewire 400 devices

and if you happen to have newer 15 or 17 mbp with express card slot you can get one of the 34mm adapters and add additional firewire, sata or usb ports...that's how Im operating, got adapter the step down to firewire 400 for my interfaces and got sata 3 express card adapter to drive my external hdd...very, very fast transfer speeds!

^^^ thats good to know, then the op would just have to get a fw interface with 2 fw ports so he could daisy chain an external harddrive to it for recording.

op if you didnt know, its good to have an external drive to write to (at least 7200 rpm for audio, and firewire 400 or 800) because it will make your recordings go more smoothly, the idea behind it is your computer needs a dedicated harddrive to read your daw from, and a separate dedicated one to write you recordings to, so they dont get in the way of each other and your harddrive doesnt have to jump around so much and write things in different places, it can write them in a more linear sequence.

they got all kinds of 34mm express card expansions on amazon in different configurations and port amounts..definately something worth looking into for those with macbooks that got that slot

i have a 2010 MPB dual i7 with logic 9, an apogee duet and an internal SSD HD. no need to daisy chain external while recording. except for the occasional crash while using melodyne, totally stable for the purpose of recording/editing. plus you can edit while on the couch, which is great, because i am lazy.

when i recorded using pro tools LE the mbox was usb and I had to use an external firewire drive to record to, because the internal 5400rpm drive couldn't read/write fast enough, which would lead to audio drop outs. the new mbp i have has only one firewire port and the apogee audio interface is firewire, but the internal drive is Solid State so the read/write speed is great. no audio drop outs. but when i use melodyne as an au plug-in in logic, i'll get random crashes and lose work, which is annoying but not terrible if you save all the time.

I have been thinking about buying the Apogee Duet when i buy my MBP.. but the price is pretty high.. it costs the same as my M audio Delta 1010 and it doesnt have any midi in or out.. Any one suggest a good soundcard or maybe a good one with Midi in and out?

The Apogee is ill. It's worth saving your pennies and getting something like it. You can use a midi to usb cable from the mpc to the usb port of the laptop as a workaround. I don't know how the M-Audio sounds, but I have never been happier with a purchase than the duet. My .02.
