$1,474.95

quote from their website :

These units showcase some of the best custom work ever associated with the Akai MPC and should be considered museum quality.

i've seen that mpc on ebay for almost 2 years... they never sell one. I think it's more of an advertisement for they're website, they run their banner ad on the item page... so it's like $2 a month for a little promotion

Bumping an old thread over starting a new one on the same subject.

I found this MPC the other day on their site and wondered if anyone knows what this means?

"These units are also equipped with a proprietary damping system under the pad actuators to reduce physical bounce and enhance drum hit accuracy."

Could only mean they did something regarding the underside of the pads. Could be Nym's $5 silicone fix, something like MPCStuff's Corx (have been made with cork and felt adhesive applies them to the pads underside).

Certainly couldn't be anything to pay a premium for.

To the original focus of the thread, these $1400 XL's are insane. My XL is identical to the one in the picture minus the word. Pad, buttons, knobs, CF everything except the wood. It's in almost mint condition and including the added parts was like $525 total with an 8 out board already in there.

So who wants to pay $600- $900 extra for some wood?

The CF/SD reader is nothing special, and only costs $50 from the manufacturer, just need to add your own screw holes and deal with the power and IDE cables/connections.

I figured it was something like that, I just like the use of the word "proprietary," tryna sound fancy.

I was laughing at that... I got an XL two days ago for $400 with everything thats in the $1400 one other than the wood and the black knobs and pads which would be what...less than $60 from MPC-stuff?
