Hoping someone could help because I couldn't find another post with this specific situation. I'm on an MPC 2500 with JJ OS 3.09. When I record samples into the MPC, it shows on the level meters that I'm recording in stereo and the Mode is set to Stereo, but when I play back the samples they play in mono out of only the right channel. Is there an explanation for this? I feel like I've checked every setting and I'm out of ideas, and it's driving me insane.

thanks in advance

I should clarify that the samples play in mono even before chopping. They also play in mono when I use Extract to make slices (i.e. I understand that Chop Shop converts samples to mono unless using JJ OS XL)

Yeah, I guess that is the problem. I have since found a few threads of other owners with similar problems. It seems kind of ridiculous that this many people are having problems with one or both of the outs, though. I understand everyone's against Numark buying Akai, but these aren't cheap machines. Why so many problems??

Yeah...the workaround is to get a external mixer and use the 8 assignable outs.

If you want to fix it, you can replace the CPU assembly(worked for me), or if you have a good audio electronics shop near you, you can see if they can fix it.
