MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai
By CoinUp! Sat Apr 09, 2011 12:56 pm
I've been twittering with Akai Pro a few times requesting them to be more involved in the community like this forum and communicate more with their users of the MPC. They take my feedback seriously and are currently discussing it internal. We'll see....

My wish: two topics, bugs and wishes, on the first page in one post. Filtered first by the moderators and updated: solved, pending, not possible etc. etc. It's imported that the list is not spread over tens of pages.

Maybe MPC-Tutor can set this up beforehand? No more half hearthed attempts. We have to do this right. So everybody stop complaining, hating and contribute.

I still believe they will support the MPC.....

As expected a dick shows up. Like I said stop hating and contribute or else leave if you be so kind.

I'm more about improvements for the 5000, not so the bugs. There's one bug that's bothering me though and that's negative people like you.

I hope this works this time... akai should jump on this... its not often people step to the plate like this and for free top it off.

lets hope this goes somewhere.

is there a way to design a bug submission form of some sort (maybe on another site) maybe that could even help categorize issues too.

We have their attention for now. I suggest everybody twitter Akaipro, because they are the link through the devs. Just let 'm know something needs to be done. Don't present m with list etc jet. From now on communication with them needs to be done through one channel; MPC-forums.

Invite them to this forum and give 'm the link. The more tweets the better.

Last change people!

That would be great. As long as we don;t use Akai's own submission form. TCElectronics is a good example: They have their own userforum with specific expert moderator. If they can't help you you then use the submission form, a reference number and great communication on top of that untill problem solved.

So you have a want list. You want MPC-Tutor to set something up. You also want Akai to fix bugs. But you dont have any solid proof and your not willing to try some to help this community along. Oh wait your the email guy the twitter guy....hahaha you lazy, unscientific people got nerve. Im the dick??? It only touched a nerve because it's true.

First my appologies for calling you a dick.

Second let's just start over and give this another go OK? I'm willing to put in the work.

You have been recreating bugs. What have you done with them? Everybody starts but wont finish. We need concrete results/answers from Akai. If they say sorry guys, but we have no money for a new OS or patch, that's a solid answer. Not the one we want hear, but atleast we can move on.

I have been writing everything down since I have the 5000 that I've come across. I have a few bugs like fasing when layering sounds. I have been emailing AkaiPro for many things, but communication is not there best quality.

I've tested bugs that users post randomly, but that is not the way. The 5000 is not the only equipment I have. Most companies offer a place where bugs are listed confined and in detail. And with status. What's the point of recreating two year old bugs if Nothing is properly registerd or updated? I'm not going through page after page to look for a more information.

I would like MPC-Tutor to set things up because he has the most knowledge of the MPC creating user manuals. And he has the best platform, this site. I'm sure he has contacted AkaiPro about the MPC. But even he will tell you that Akai's communication is not their best point.

But if all of you think this is a waste of time I'm done, because I surely can't do this alone...

The bug reporting system is already set up on MPC-Tutor.com, I advertised it, invited everyone to submit bugs for all current model MPCs, and I didn't get a single bug report. Unfortunately, I can't leave a tumbleweed page on the site, it looks bad, so I took it down.

if people are willing to submit bugs, I'll make it live again. Basically, submit bugs, I'll check them, and then will submit a bug report to Akai.

With a public bug report system, at least everyone can see what bugs are confirmed and which ones have been reported to Akai and on what date Akai received them. It's then up to Akai to act on them.

MPC-Tutor: If you want to re-open the bug list, I will put in a bug with midi clock on the 2500. I don't care if its the only one and sits there forever. If you don't want to open the list for just one bug, I can understand.

The 5000 doesn't have any outright bugs that I have found, not clearly demonstratable ones. They are more like values changing when editing another field (never consistently), amazingly slow response changes screen (switch from anything to mixer mode is like 5 seconds), and not being able to record HD tracks in time (always a small unpredictable amount out of time, and just recording from internally). Well, there is a bug when slaved via midi clock - setting the master to a bar and measure, the MPC5000 moves to exactly .240 ticks later than wanted. I could put that bug in also.

Lemme know if you open the buglist.

Cheers,
B

I didn't know about the existence of that list. Good thing it's ready.... Please make it live again!

Here's the direct link

http://www.mpc-tutor.com/mpc-bug-reports/

Once we have a few more bugs I'll link to it from the main menu. There's a few I've added already, plus one I added on behalf of another forum member.

Add anything you like, doesn't have to be just pure bugs. Even stuff like screen lag, slow loading etc. I still cannot get over how long the 5k takes to load up projects compared to a 1000 - same project on the same CF card takes significantly longer on the 5k.
