Strange marks on my MPC 60. Were they sold like this?

I actually have 2 questions. The first is easy. Whats the best way to clean the MPC 60? I tried a cloth, but the paint has a strange finish that causes bits and dust from the cloth to get trapped on the surface of the MPC 60.

Ok, anyway. Check the picture below. Around all the dials on the MPC 60 are these strange marks. What are they, and do all 60's have these markings?

Mine has the marks but they are barely noticeable, its part of the assembly underneath I'd guess.

Yeah they are all like that, I think the more they wear down the more visible they are

Mine too.

When you think that part of the MPC has been rubbed daily since 1988 its just wearing the paint off.

Mine is far worse. Wondering if anyone will every make replica face plates.
