Track Muting

i have a 1 bar of 4/4 drumbreak looped. i didn't chop the break, just having it looping itself every 4 beats. the sample is on one pad, but i was wondering, is it possible to trackmute on different beats of the looping drumbreak? it seems like you can only trigger the trackmute at the beginning of the wav. sample (like when you there is a pad being triggered) rather than and never in the middle of it.

ie) i want to have the drumbreak muted after beat 1, and drop back in with a snare at beat 4. i could only achieve this by chopping the 4/4 drumbreak into quarter note (1/4) chops and then trackmuting.

Nope, you have to chop the sample into pieces. All you "mute" in the track mute screen is the midi note that triggers the sample, which only happens at the start of the sample (ie:when the pad gets pressed).

I got a better question about track mutes.....Can you record track mutes into a sequence(2kxl)? I have the manual and you can record mixer changes, but track muting isnt a mixer setting....Currently, I just record track mutes live into pro tools, but Id rather keep it "itb" (in the box) and not have to **** around with the MP too much while Im tracking beats out.

No that is not possible ( at least not on the 3000 ). I use the song mode for this "problem". I copy the sequence a few times and set the tracks on/off. No problem in song mode - but if you convert it back to a sequence the tracks won't go on or off the like inthe song mode. But that's on the 3000 - using the song mode cut solve your "problem" - but I prefer the live way cause it sounds and feels more natural.

I want to record track mutes to a track in the MPC, not Pro Tools. I wrote what I was looking to do in the original post...Maybe you should stick to selling running shoes.

Do you have mute groups? That makes it easier. If you don't, then you still have the abillity to make pades mute each other. ( I think one pad can be assigned to mute 4 other pads)
Just have an "empty" pad cut off the pad you want muted. record. there you go..

I t is also possible to record in the track mute window. (at least with my OS it is). But it's kinda shi'y.

And ya: you have to chop your sample, to achieve what your trying to do. ^^^^
