I was under the impression the only replacement floppy drive for 60's were TEAC FD-235HFxxxx .

Will any old Amiga drive do?

well the 60 floppy drive we KNOW works is that teac, however some amigas used those 3.5 DD floppies too and that era of computers was big over in the UK.... where as, we didn't really use those computers here... I mean we did, but not compared to you guys... that is why I figured you probably had access to computer junk stores that are filled with those.


the thing is, you gotta get the floppies with the large amount of jumpers (not just the standard ones) (hard to explain) and if you can get the jumper setting correct you should be able to get it to work. lucky for you, you already have a drive that may help as a reference.

Well between the two 60's I have the SCSI joint, OS 2.14 and the memory expansion.

Might just max one of them out and lose the donor, but choosing which to keep would be tough.

They both look great in their own way...

well to be fair, the 60ii counts as a seperate roget linn model so you might need to hang on to both or replace the donor one.

No mods to the 60 mk1, it is how it was.

Ah yes I do have a project in the works, but it's more of a work in progress (hence buying more hardware)

It'll be at least a year.

Well i have got a project on theback burner, incorporating MPCs with visuals for a mad A/V sampler set.
Might be looking for people to join if you'd be up for it. We're hoping to play at the BFI on Southbank in November.

Are you going to or have you already upgraded to OS 3.10 software chipset? do you think its worth it?

I have two MPC60's ATM, both have 3.10.

The improvements are well documented, worth every cent. The Akai OS is crippled in comparison.

yeah i've been reading the 3.10 manual. sounds like a must have.

I've had about 10 MPC60's since posting this thread, I buy, repair, sell and consolidate. I think I've had all permutations of model, OS and spec along the way. Three of the machines had SCSI, four had OS3.10, four had memory expansions, two were MkII's, three had flightcases, one had the original price tag still on it. Two were sold to forum members, the rest thru other means. I currently have two beautiful Mk1's, one of which I will sell when I can be bothered to market it. There's no rush lol.

I've learned a lot about MPC60's over the last 22 months or so...
